We recognize that every clinic has its own structure for meeting the behavioral health needs of the patients. Below are links to more in-depth information to pertinent to behavioral health in school-based health centers. We will continue to develop the resources on this page and as always appreciate member input on how we can best support SBHCs. If there is a topic you would like more information on or would like to see added, please contact Rebecca Gostlin.
Behavioral Health: Refers to addressing mental health and substance use concerns and often includes a person’s overall well-being.
Behavioral health describes the connection between behaviors and the health and well-being of the body, mind and spirit.
The term “behavioral health” in this context means the promotion of mental health, resilience, and well-being; the treatment of mental and substance use disorders; and the support of those who experience and/or are in recovery from these conditions, along with their families and communities.
Integrated Care: Refers to the provision of primary care and behavioral health care together. This can be done on a continuum of integration from “coordinated” to “co-located” to “integrated.”
